Short Answer: Wayshowing is the art of using landmarks, signage, pathways and environmental cues to SHOW first-time visitors around the built environment while experiencing a site without confusion, frustration or even becoming lost. By “showing” them the way rather than allowing them to “find” their way, it creates positive patient satisfaction while enhancing and understanding the overall experience of the space.
We are the Wayfinding
& Wayshowing Benchmark...
The Design Office of Steve Neumann & Friends is a multidisciplinary design firm founded in 1973. We have a national reputation for design leadership in the practice of experience design for settings ranging from major healthcare facilities and corporate campuses to public spaces. Our solutions reflect a bespoke, tailored approach to each project’s unique challenges and opportunities.
There are few experiences more frustrating than feeling lost. It’s not only frustrating for the visitors, but for staff as well. Constant interruptions to answer questions about directions can reduce efficiency and drive up cost.
When people feel lost, business suffers.
It’s our job to create effective strategies for managing information that help transform complex environments into intuitive and well understood experiences that guide visitors to their destinations and create efficiencies for staff. An effective strategy includes plans for how the system of signs, messages and other naming, branding and information conventions will be updated as a facility changes or expands. We create systems that are scalable for tomorrow.
Based on a thorough analytical process and a deep understanding of a facility’s various users, our team develops a cohesive set of wayfinding/wayshowing recommendations and solutions to help improve the user’s satisfaction and experience.
We help healthcare institutions increase their level of patient satisfaction and organizational efficiency by empowering patients and visitors with the wayshowing tools, like directional signage, that allows navigating unassisted, even through the most complex and challenging healthcare wayfinding environments.
